Music festival organizer fined over posters

News 95.7 Staff Jul 31, 2010 08:31:04 AM
The organizer of Evolve, Antigonish's annual music festival, will have to add an extra $4500 to the cost of running this year's show.

Jonas Colter tells the Herald he was given 18 tickets at $250 a pop because of posters for the event that he posted in Halifax.

A bylaw in the city prohibits posters on lampposts, except for designated areas. However, most lampposts in the downtown are littered with events listings.

An HRM spokesperson says the organizers were warned last year.

Colter says he plans to fight the tickets.

He appears in a Halifax court August 31.
