Food, music and parade highlight Natal Day weekend events

There's plenty to do around HRM for the Natal Day long weekend, celebrating the founding of the city of Halifax. Take your pick of pancake breakfasts, free concerts, a talent show and, of course, fireworks. More details can be found on the official Natal Day website.

Saturday:

9:30 a.m. - 5th Annual CFB Halifax Natal Day Pancake Breakfast. Free while quantities last, live entertainment. Free Admission. Queen's Landing, Halifax Waterfront.

10 a.m. - Kiwanis Mother Goose Festival in the Ferry Terminal Park. Crafts, games, storytelling, Bouncy Castle, and featuring an original play by Gary Williams of DaPoPo Theatre.  Free admission. Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.

11 a.m. - 3 p.m. HMCS Athabaskan open to public.  Bring photo ID. Children must be accompanied by an adult. As well backpacks, large bags, strollers, etc. are not permitted on the ship. Free admission. Pier 19 (Tall Ships Quay,) Halifax Waterfront.

1 p.m. - Natal Day Esso Talent Show begins, finals start at 5 p.m. Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.

4 p.m. - Natal Day Concert on the NSLC Main Stage featuring Georges Hebert, Opus One, Mike Cowie Band, Doris Mason Band, Shirley Jackson & the Good Rockin' Daddies, Rasta Gumbo and The Mellotones. Free Admission. Queen's Landing, Halifax Waterfront.

8 p.m. - Concert featuring Matt Mays along with Telfer, and The Novaks. Free admission. Alderney Landing, Dartmouth.

10 p.m. - Natal Day Fireworks, Halifax Harbour.

Sunday:

7:30 a.m. - Registration begins for Annual Bridge Miles Road Race, rain or shine. Separate races for Men, Women, Boys and Girls, plus two elite races.  Free event for the whole family. Angus L. Macdonald Bridge.

1 p.m. - Gospel Concert featuring Dutch Robinson, Cherry Brook Mass Choir, Hallelujah Praise Choir, The East Preston Revival Choir, and Sanctified Boys (Deep River Boys). Free admission. Queen's Landing, Halifax Waterfront.

2 p.m. - Mayor's Halifax Natal Day Tea Party with live entertainment featuring Mike Cowie Band and the Greenwood Air Cadet Summer Training Centre Band. Free refreshments. Halifax Public Gardens.

Monday:

10 a.m. - 2010 Pepsi Natal Day Parade.  The parade will form on Novalea Drive in Halifax beginning on Novalea Drive at Dartmouth Street, finishing at Sullivan's Pond in Dartmouth.
