Courtroom security is in the spotlight again after a Wednesday morning brawl at the Dartmouth Provincial courthouse.
The fight broke out among several people who were at court for the sentencing hearing of a North Preston man who was sentenced to four months in jail for pointing a gun.
The brawl has renewed calls from prosecution lawyers who want better security at court houses. The Dartmouth court house has no weapons scanners.
Police arrived but some of the brawlers had already left, Halifax police say they expect to lay charges in the future.
A few people suffered minor injuries -- they were treated on-site by emergency crews.
RCMP went to North Preston to follow up on the incident, and officers there encountered what they call a large crowd. And RCMP spokesperson tells News 95.7 nothing escalated to violence.
