A nerve-wracking moment for a mother and her child earlier this morning may be connected to other break-and-enters in the area. Police say they are investigating several incidents from this week, last week and over the weekend.
A woman was in her living room with her child when she was confronted by a man in a white ski mask around 4 a.m. Tuesday. The masked man grabbed a laptop and fled. This latest incident happened on Partridge Nest Drive in Mineville.
Only Monday, a man on Chater Drive in East Preston reported a similar break-and-enter. He said he'd been asleep when he heard someone kicking in his back door. He went to check and saw a man running out of his basement. Several electronics were reported missing from the house.
In both cases a K-9 Unit tracked the suspect to a spot where police believe a vehicle had been waiting. This morning dogs followed the trail to the Mineville Medical Centre.
Police are urging the public to be vigilant about locking their doors and windows at night.
