Some travellers flying into Stanfield International are complaining about the way they're being treated by border guards. Written complaints over three years detail rude and degrading treatment some travellers say they've received at the airport.
The Chronicle Herald reports, the complaints centre on Canadian Border Services agents. The travellers object to how much their luggage was searched through, and the intrusiveness of the questionning about what they had packed.
One traveller's complaint letter says he was physically hit in the chest by a border guard for trying to leave when he thought his luggage search was over. He had gotten permission to go from another agent.
The 13 written complaints were released under the Freedom of Information Act.
Nova Scotia's tourism minister, Percy Paris, tells the paper he wants to talk with airport officials and border services about the complaints.
The Airport Authority says it has nothing to do with the border guards.
