N.S. not following Quebec's lead on snow tires: Estabrooks
As Quebec starts its second winter with mandatory snow tires on cars, there still no sign of the legislation heading east. Transportation Minister Bill Estabrooks says it's not something he is recommending to cabinet at this time. "That's not something as a government we've considered, and at this stage it's not something I'm recommending,"says Estabrooks. "We trust the good judgment of Nova Scotians, they'll be prepared for the snow hopefully. Get your snow tires on, listen to the local radio stations, make sure you're not out in dangerous driving situations and use your good judgment." Quebec's legislation went into effect last year, and is effective from November 15 to April 15. Those without snow tires are fined $300. |
