Tire shops tighten policy on snow tires
As tire shops around the city scramble to get winter tires on cars, some of those shops have a tougher policy when it comes to putting those tires on. Some shops are refusing to put just two winter tires on. "Some lawsuits where the insurance companies are blaming the accidents on that, holding places like us responsible for the accident," says Paul Studley at Coast Tire. So the new policy is four snows or they don't do the job. Mike Beattie found that out when he went to Wal-mart to put just a couple of winters on. "Basically what they're saying is I have to buy four winter tires." Blake Sampson at K and B Auto says it's a good policy and he thinks we should follow Quebec's lead and have winter tires mandatory. However, the province is not driving down that route at this time. |
