Winter-like weather causes delays, power outages

Rapidly-deteriorating conditions turned light rainshowers into heavy, wet snow Friday morning.

The precipitation changed to snow around around 4 a.m., and reduced visibility and made roads very slippery.

Driving conditions were quite poor

Police were dealing with a number of accidents, ranging from minor fender-benders to rollovers.

Winds gusting around 70 to 80 km/h were forecast in Metro.

The drive home was forecast to be messy as well.

"This evening, there's a good chance of getting the same thing again," said Richard Zurawski, News95.7 Meteorologist.  "As the system tapers off and gradually clears up, you're going to be getting flurries."

Zurawski predicted a cold front would cause nighttime temperatures to rapidly tumble below freezing.
