Police find large amounts of the date rape drug in raid
The city's integrated drug squad had an unusual find at a Middle Sackville home Thursday morning. A raid on a home on Lylewood Drive at six in the morning produced a significant quantity of date rape drugs. RCMP spokesman Cpl. Joe Taplin says 44 vials of GHB were seized. "That's quite a bit of a quantity of a drug that we don't see too much around when we do drug searches," says Taplin. "And to get it off the street that's quite an accomplishment for the integrated drug unit." GHB can make people delusional, have a desire to sleep and sometimes people pass out. RCMP and regional police both say there haven't been any confirmed recent date rape cases, but Taplin calls it a warning note to people in the local bar scene. Three men and a woman were arrested and face a number of charges. |
