April Wine frontman launches shoe campaign for the homeless

Songwriter, rock legend, producer, and now, Myles Goodwyn can add “philanthropist” to his resume.

The “Soleful Caring” founder and April Wine frontman said he wanted to launch his campaign to provide shoes for the homeless because it’s a cause that’s very important to him.

“We were brought up with not that much money, and I wore shoes that were pretty beat up and had cardboard stuffed in mine them to keep those small nails in the heel area from digging into me,” he said. “It still moves me, when I see someone with worn-out shoes. [There’s] something deep inside of me that is touched by that.”

Goodwyn, who’s also a diabetic, teamed up with his doctor, Stan Van Duyse to start the campaign a few months ago. He said they’ve already received some 1,500 shoe and boot donations here in Halifax.

He plans to take “Soleful Caring” all across Canada.
