Air Canada workers could soon serve strike notice

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – There could be complications on the horizon for Air Canada passengers.

We expect to learn today if 3,800 service and sales agents with the airline will serve strike notice that would begin Monday at midnight. The possibility of that happening could be a hassle for at least one passenger:

“It’s frustrating having very few choices in air travel. Travel is what keeps the business of the country functioning. Just like any other transit strike, it’s crippling.”

Another person flying out of YVR with Air Canada tells us this news gives him some uncertainty around how he might get back. “I usually fly Air Canada and I’m booked to come back out here at the end of the month. So I might have to make alternative arrangements.”

Some analysts are warning passengers to expect longer lines at check-in and more complications if pilots and flight attendants refuse to cross picket lines. For its part, Air Canada insists in the event of a walk-out, it has a back-up plan.
