OTTAWA, Ont. – A new poll looked at the lighter side of politics and found that when it comes to looking for a friend in a party leader, we tend to look to our left.
NDP Leader Jack Layton appears to be the leader we’d all like to have as a friend.
A poll from Abacus Data showed he’s the man we’d choose to have in our rock band, or drink a couple of pints with.
Layton was also the leader you’d prefer as a babysitter or real estate agent.
Conservative Leader Stephen Harper came a close second in the musical category. Michael Ignatieff has been chosen as the best buddy for a trivia team.
When stacked up against celebrities, the party leaders aren’t as favoured as Sidney Crosby, Rick Mercer or Barack Obama, but they did do better than Donald Trump, Tiger Woods and Charlie Sheen.
