The Manitoba Chiefs have launched a postcard campaign urging the federal government to address poor water conditions on First Nations in the province.

The lack of running water in First Nation communities in Manitoba’s Island Lake region have also been the subject of a newspaper series. Helen Falding, a Winnipeg Free Press journalist, spoke with Bamoseda about her investigation.

The Women of the Metis Nation are adding their voice to the concerns over the recent $10-million federal strategy to address the hundreds of missing and murdered Aboriginal women and girls in the country.

Remains unearthed in Dawson City, Yukon, are believed to be the bodies of the Nantuck brothers — the first people to have been tried in a murder trial and executed in the Yukon during the time of the gold rush.
