N.S. man accused of murderous plot against Atlantic Mounties

A Valley man is facing a number of charges after an alleged plan to kill RCMP officers in  Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.

Mark Baltzer, 53, was arrested in a high-risk takedown in Newfoundland Monday.

Reports indicate he told a Newfoundland ferry passenger of his plans. She informed staff on board the ferry, who then alerted police.

When police stopped him, RCMP spokesman Boyd Merrill tells CTV he had a rifle and crossbow with him  – and that wasn’t all.

“[He also had] a regular bow and arrow, a number of arrows, ammunition, liquor,
a number of items that could definitely kill or cause grievous bodily harm to the public or police officers,” said Merrill.

The Herald is reporting Balzter allegedly had a hit list to kill three RCMP officers in Newfoundland and one in Nova Scotia.

There’s no word on a possible motive.
