A man wanted on murder charges has been extradited back to Nova Scotia.

Steven Skinner, 44, faces a second degree murder charge in the death of Stacey Adams in Lake Echo in 2011.

Since then, Skinner had left the country, but was arrested in Venezuela on May 15, 2016.

Police said they have been working with authorities on the extradition process for the past year.

In addition to facing the second-degree murder charge in the death of Adams, Skinner also faces charges in relation to an incident that took place in Lower Sackville in July, 2009.

They include:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Forcible confinement
  • Two counts of assault with a weapon
  • Two counts of uttering threats
  • Possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose

Skinner was arrested in Ontario in July 2009 and returned to Nova Scotia where he was later released on conditions.
