HALIFAX – The series is now all tied up at 2-2 as the Halifax Mooseheads topped the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 3-1 in game four of their opening round playoff series.

The Mooseheads scored three straight goals, all in the first half of the game. The Huskies wouldn’t be able to answer back until 7:59 into the second period when Alexandre Fortin scored his first of the playoffs.

Nico Hischier scored his second goal of the playoffs which turned out to be the game winning goal 17:41 into the first period on the power-play.

“Last night we couldn’t get anything going on the power-play it was frustrating for us so it was something we really focused on today,” said Mooseheads’ forward Jake Coughler.

Mooseheads’ head coach Andre Tourigny wanted more emotion from his team after their game three loss and he says they showed it tonight.

“Its impressive the way they bounced back,” said Tourigny. “I’m really proud the way they played and what they showed our fans. The pride and commitment we had today was really good to see.

Frédéric Aubé scored the third goal for the Mooseheads from an odd angle that just trickled over the goal line.

“We have to throw more pucks to the net and that is what I tried to do,” said Aubé. “Lucky bounce, I’ll take it.”

Mooseheads defenceman Jared McIsaac left the game late in the second period after taking a hit from behind. He would later come back out for one more shift in the third period but only to head back down the tunnel once again. Tourigny says it is an upper-body injury.

Coughler opened up the scoring with his first of the playoffs just 1:15 into the the first period.

Mooseheads’ forward Arnaud Durandeau recorded two assists and currently leads Halifax with five points in four playoff games.

Game five goes down Friday night at the Scotiabank Centre.
