HALIFAX – The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies now lead the Halifax Mooseheads 2-1 in their first round playoff series, as they shut out the Herd 2-0 Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Centre.

Unlike the previous two games, game three saw very little scoring with Rouyn-Noranda’s Zachary Lauzon getting it in between the pipes at the 17:08 mark of the first period.

An empty net goal by Manuel Wiederer late in the final period sealed the deal for the Huskies, who now lead the series 2-1.

“We started to move the puck a little bit in the third period, and on the powerplay we started to get a few chances,” said Mooseheads coach Andre Tourigny. The Herd went 0/10 on the powerplay for the night.

Tourigny said he wants to see his team play with the emotion they had in the first two games of the series. “That happens with a young team and we have to learn.”

Alexis Gravel had a busy night, making 44 saves on 45 shots.

Game four goes down Wednesday night at the Scotiabank Centre.
