HALIFAX – A taxi driver in Halifax is being acclaimed as a hero following a 40-year-old man being charged with assault.

Friday afternoon shortly after 4p.m., a taxi driver noticed a woman being assaulted by a man in Halifax’s south end, where he then picked up the female victim and contacted police and followed the man to a nearby business.

Police officials say the incident happened on Inglis St. near Brussels St.

The two involved were not believed to be known to each other and police officials say the victim almost bumped into the suspect while texting and walking.

The women did not appear to be seriously injured.

He will be in court on May 23 to face the assault charge.
