Man charged in 12-year-old cold case homicide

Halifax Regional Police say they’ve charged a Saint John man in connection with a cold case homicide that happened almost 12-years-ago in Spryfield.

On June 7, 2005, police found the body of 26-year-old Naomi Kidston inside a River Road apartment, she had last been seen alive in that apartment in the early morning hours of that day.

Her death was ruled a homicide.

Police have charged 50-year-old Donald Murray Peters with second degree murder,

Peters was arrested yesterday in New Brunswick and will be in Halifax Provincial Court today.

“We’re hopeful that today’s developments will provide some measure of comfort to her family and friends,” said Cst. Dianne Penfound in a news release.

The homicide was added to Nova Scotia’s Rewards for Major Unsolved Crimes Program in July of 2015.
