Crews respond to fire at Salvation Army church

HALIFAX – Halifax Fire crews are on the scene of a fire at the Salvation Army community church on Barrington Street on Friday morning.
Fire Crews were called to a fire on the first floor of the building at 1329 Barrington Street after 8 a.m. on Monday where they were met with heavy smoke conditions.
The fire was extinguished quickly and crews continue to search the rest of the building to see if any of the fire had spread.
Barrington Street is currently closed between Morris Street and Bishop Street and drivers and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area if possible.
There’s no word on the cause or extent of the fire.
