Cogswell Interchange information session goes tonight

With the shovels expected to hit the dirt next year, the municipality is inviting residents to attend a public engagement session on the Cogswell Redevelopment Project.

Mayor Mike Savage and project director John Spinelli are expected to attend Wednesday’s event to update the public on the estimated $65-million project’s status.

The multi-year construction job will see the dismantling of the 45-year-old traffic interchange, and the plan is to replace it with a new street grid, open spaces and land redevelopment.

HRM spokesperson Tiffany Chase told NEWS 95.7 those who show up have an opportunity to talk with project staff and get better idea of what the development entails.

“We know this is a significantly under-utilized space in our downtown core,” Chase explained.

“We want to make sure we’ve engaged the public, key stakeholder, property owners in this area and residents who are interested in either moving to this area or going to be in some of the newer developments that are going to be popping up in the downtown core.”

Chase says they’ll also be discussing how the new transportation plan will be integrated with the redevelopment.

The event starts at 6 p.m. in the Casino Nova Scotia Schooner Room with a presentation at 6:30 p.m.
