Mooseheads beat Islanders 5-2 in game two of home stand

HALIFAX – Make that two in a row for the Halifax Mooseheads, as they win game two of their three game home stand with a 5-2 victory over the Charlottetown Islanders on Saturday night.

It was sweet revenge for the Herd, as they avenged last week’s 9-2 loss against the Islanders.

Halifax opened up scoring as Swiss import Nico Hischier netted the first goal of his Mooseheads career at 5:32 of the first period.

Charlottetown would tie things up on a power play goal from Kameron Kielly, making the score 1-1 at the end of the first period.

The Mooseheads would retake the lead on a Connor Moynihan goal at 2:11 of the second period, his third of the season.

Shawn Boudrias scored his seventh goal of the season on a Charlottetown power play, to tie the game at 2-2.

The third period was all Halifax as Anthony Sorrentino, Connor Moynihan, and Barrett Dachyshyn each scored goals to give the Mooseheads a 5-2 victory.

But it was Alexis Gravel who stole the show, making 35 saves in his first start as a Moosehead.

On Monday, the Mooseheads finish up their three game home stand when they host the Gatineau Olympiques.
