The RCMP in Nova Scotia say search and rescue operations have concluded at Peggy’s Cove, after a 25-year-old man fell into the the water Wednesday afternoon.

They say once sea conditions permit, the RCMP underwater recovery team will be deployed.

Cpl. Greg Church says police were called around 12:15 p.m. today after someone eating at the Sou’Wester Restaurant and Gift Shop watched the man being swept into the water.

Church says the man from Ontario is visiting the province with a young woman.

The identify of the missing man is being held pending notification of next of kin.

Church says the man and woman were walking along the water’s edge when he got too close and a wave came over and swept him into the water.

The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre says a search and rescue helicopter, aircraft and two coast guard ships are helping with the search.

Church says at the time of the incident, there was light fog and the ocean was choppy.
