Man stabbed twice after a downtown Halifax fight

HALIFAX – Halifax Regional Police responded to a stabbing on Spring Garden Road just before 7 p.m. last night.

The fight involving several people turned violent.

A 27-year-old man was stabbed twice and taken to the QEII with non-life threatening injuries.

Sgt. Jason Withrow of the Halifax Regional Police told News 95.7 the accused fled on foot but thanks to help from witnesses they were able to catch up with him and charge him.

A 20-year-old man will appear in court today charged with numerous weapons and assault charges.

Police say this was not a random stabbing.

The accused and victim were together earlier in the day.
