Head of SOARS charged with sexual assault

RCMP have charged the executive director of the Social Opportunities and Rec Society with sexual assault.

Police say they received a report earlier this week of a 17-year-old girl being sexually assaulted while attending the organization’s March Break camp.

Police arrested 48-year-old Anthony Leo Gough of Middle Sackville without incident on Tuesday.

He faces charges including sexual assault and sexual exploitation of a person with a disability, and was due in court Wednesday.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

On its website, SOARS says it “provides day programming and services to young adults aged 16-35 living with intellectual and physical challenges.”
