MONCTON, N.B. – A longtime friend of Sgt. Andrew Joseph Doiron says he was passionate about his career in the military.
Stephanie Learmouth, who went to high school with Doiron in New Brunswick, says he always wanted to serve his country.
The 31-year-old Learmouth says Doiron referred to it as his mission and smiled when he talked about his role in the Canadian Special Operations Regiment.
Doiron died Friday by friendly fire in Iraq.
Learmouth, who lives in Moncton, N.B., says Doiron had many different friends and maintaining those relationships was very important to him.
She says he always made a point to check in with his friends and would send postcards and letters when he was away.
