HRP Chief: “Continue with your life” in wake of Paris attacks

As the world watches the aftermath of the Paris terror attacks, it’s business as usual for Halifax Regional Police.

Chief Jean-Michel Blais says no additional measures have been taken in response to the attacks.

Blais tells The Rick Howe Show he has received no specific information of any kind of terrorist threat made against Halifax, but that doesn’t mean that the force’s guard is down.

“We adjust our patrol levels and the way that we staff our units according to the individual threats that we have defined locally, as opposed to something that’s occurred elsewhere,” Blais said.

He added that police are on patrol to keep people safe from all threats — not just terrorism.

“There are a whole host of other threats that are out there. And that’s what I guess [is] the larger issue for people here in Halifax,” he said, advising people to “Continue with your life.”

Blais said most police organizations share intelligence with one another, and his officers are ready should the threat level change.
