Regional Police investigate boat break-ins.

It’s not the start to the boating season that some had wanted.

Thieves have broken into no less than four boats that have been stored at the Marina in Purcell’s Cove.

Halifax Regional Police say that sometime in the overnight hours of May 4th someone broke into the vessels that have been stored at the facility.

According to police the thieves gained access to the boats by slashing tarps and plastic wrap and made off with a number of items.

Police are asking boat owners to avoid leaving valulable items inside their boats when they are unoccupied and are also urging boaters to regularly check their craft to see if they have been broken into.

Officers are asking anyone with information about these incidents or who has experienced a similar incident to contact police at 490-5016.
