Man not a hit-and-run victim, but jumped on and off a trailer

Halifax Regional Police now say the 25-year-old man they found injured on Main Street in Dartmouth was not a hit-and-run victim, rather, he jumped onto a vehicle himself.

A witness has told police the man jumped onto the back of a truck pulling a large trailer and excavator when it stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, the truck picked up speed, and the victim jumped from the trailer and rolled onto the ground, causing his injuries. The truck kept going and there is no indication that the driver was even aware of what had happened.

Police discovered the man on the road around 2:00 a.m. after he left a nearby liquor establishment. The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and excessive alcohol is believed to play a role in the incident.
