Councillor proposes online ice-booking system

An HRM councillor wants to make booking ice time at local arenas as easy as buying concert tickets online.
Right now, you have to call individual arenas and ask about openings. Darren Fisher, representing Dartmouth-The Lakes, imagines a 24/7 web interface where you could pick a date or a place and see what’s available.
“The idea has been well fleshed-out as far as what I’d like to see, but budget will come into this as well,” said Fisher. “My argument is, if it costs a little bit of money to be really efficient, you’ll make that money back in efficiency.”
Fisher suggests the same could be done for ball fields or even city fire pits. Staff will explore the idea over the next few months and report back to Council.
