Study reveals sobering affect of gas prices on Canadian families

A new study released Tuesday revealed sobering numbers on the affect recent gas prices have had on Canadian Families.

The poll, conducted by Ottawa based Abacus-Data also revealed that a majority of Canadians now support government intervention.

Over 70% of Canadians said that gas prices had forced them to cut back on spending, while nearly 40% responded by saying that the costs had “really hurt” their budget.

David Caletto, Abacus-Data CEO told 1310News that the numbers also showed that Canadians agreed that the “greedy gas companies” were to blame for the high prices, and that 8 out of 10 Canadians supported Federal and Provincial Government intervention.

Caletto also said that support for intervention was solid regardless of respondents political affiliation.

Details are available in the Abacus-Data report.
