Second Sea King makes unscheduled landing

No one was hurt in the latest Sea King emergency landing.

The chopper was forced to land around 4 p.m. Wednesday just east of Lawrencetown.

Smoke was seen billowing from Sea King’s rear section.

Lieutenant Tyrone Grandé with 12 Wing Shearwater says the five members on board the helicopter are all uninjured.

“They landed because there was smoke seen coming from near the rear sonar transmitter,” he said. “This caused the crew to follow onboard fire landing safety checklists.”

The controlled landing is the second involving a Sea King in a week.

Another chopper made a precautionary landing in Sackville last week after a warning light indicated low hydraulic pressure.
