Common concert means sidewalk closures, transit changes

Setup for the Black Eyed Peas concert is nearly complete on the Halifax Common, and that means some changes for pedestrians in the area.

The sidewalk has been closed on North Park Street between Cornwallis and Cogswell and on Cogswell Street on the south side of the Common from North Park to the central Common crosswalk.

The North Park Street sidewalk will reopen on Tuesday until the next concert on August 3, while the Cogswell Street sidewalk will remain closed until August 10.

Tomorrow, Metro Transit will have extra buses on standby on bus routes near the common, which include #6 – Quinpool, #7 – Robie, #18 – Universities and #80 – Sackville.

Detailed route maps and schedules are on Metro Transit’s website (http://www.halifax.ca/metrotransit)

Service has also been extended on the Alderney Ferry, which will run every 30 minutes on Saturday from 6:30 a.m. until 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

Gates open for the show at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
