Public welcome at funeral for fallen sailor

A funeral for the navy diver from Shearwater who died in Afghanistan will be held on Friday.
The memorial for Petty Officer Second Class Craig Blake is set for 10 a.m. in the F-hangar at Shearwater.
Blake died on May 3 when an IED exploded near Kandahar City.
Blake had joined the Afghan mission to help with bomb disposal and had just finished disarming a similar device when he died.
The 37-year-old husband and father of two was a devoted family man and athlete.
Shearwater officials say the public is welcome at Friday’s memorial, but they ask that attendees arrive at Hangar F no later than 9:30 a.m.
His ashes will be buried at sea.
