Halifax stars shine for Haiti relief

Halifax for Haiti has raised $135,000 to support Canadian Red Cross efforts to help the devastated nation rebuild after January’s earthquake.

About 6,300 people packed the Metro Centre last night to listen to some of the East Coast’s best talent including:  Joel Plaskett, Lennie Gallant, Classified, Bruce Guthro, Matt Minglewood, and yes, Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles, of the Trailer Park Boys.

The funds raised will be added to the two million dollars the Canadian Red Cross estimates has been raised in Nova Scotia for earthquake relief.

In all, nearly $100 million has been raised across Canada.

$5 million of that total is from Atlantic Canada.
