HALIFAX – A last minute goal gave the Halifax Mooseheads a 2-1 victory over the Moncton Wildcats on Monday afternoon at the Scotiabank Centre.
The Mooseheads opened up scoring early in the first period, as Benoit-Olivier Groulx lit the lamp at the 5:34 mark.
The Herd held on to that lead until Anthony Wojcik finally got Moncton on board, tying things up at 1-1 midway through the third period.
It looked like both teams were headed into overtime until Maxime Fortier scored with 45 seconds left in the final period to give Halifax the 2-1 win.
On Thursday, the Mooseheads make their way over to Moncton to take on the Wildcats again.
