Mooseheads fall short on the road, edged out by Oceanic 5-4

RIMOUSKI, QUE. – The Halifax Mooseheads fall short on the road, as the Rimouski Oceanic edged out the Herd 5-4 on Sunday.

The Oceanic opened up the scoring early in the first period on a Charle-Edouard D’Astous power play goal, with Halifax’s Maxime Fortier and Ben Higgins answering back to take a 2-1 lead midway through the first.

D’Astous netted another power play goal before the end of the period, to make it 2-2 heading into the second.

The second period was much like the first, as Jake Coughler and Otto Somppi each scored, with Rimouski’s Tyler Boland and Dylan Montcalm responding with a pair of their own to tie it up at 4-4.

Carson MacKinnon would eventually score the game winner at the 5:18 mark of the final period, to give the Oceanic the 5-4 win.

On Thursday, the Herd make their way back home to the Scotiabank Centre to welcome the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
