Mooseheads win at home, defeat Phoenix 9-5

HALIFAX – The Halifax Mooseheads win at home, defeating the Sherbrooke Phoenix 9-5 on Friday night.

The first period saw seven goals scored between the two squads, with Nico Hischier netting two, while Connor Moynihan and Keigan Goetz each scored once to close out the period with a 4-3 lead.

Moynihan opened up scoring in the second period with his second of the evening, but not long before Sherbrooke’s Marek Zachar and Jason Imbeault helped tie things up, making the score 5-5 at the end of the period.

Benoit-Olivier Groulx scored twice and Arnaud Durandeau lit the lamp once giving the Mooseheads a three goal cushion in the third period.

Moynihan eventually completed the hat trick, propelling the Mooseheads to a 9-5 victory.

Tomorrow night, the Herd are set to play host to the Charlottetown Islanders.
