HALIFAX – Former Halifax Mooseheads captain and St. FX player Dean Stock has died at the age of 39.
In a post to their website yesterday, the Mooseheads extended their condolences to Stock’s family while adding stock had battled with ALS – also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease – since 2014.
The Montreal native played one season for the Mooseheads, scoring at nearly a point per game and earning the Sarah Morris Memorial Trophy for outstanding community involvement.
In the team’s release, Assistant Coach Jim Midgley called Stock “one of the toughest players I’ve ever played against.” The two faced off while Midgley was a Saint Mary’s Husky.
Stock is survived by his wife Paula and their three children.
