Investigation into human trafficking conjuring painful memories for local father

A lengthy investigation into human trafficking in our province has conjured up some terrifying memories for a local father.

Last week, two Toronto area men were arrested charged under Operation Hellbender.

Rob Johnson said his 15-year old daughter was “sweet-talked” by a group of gang members into their SUV and was driven to a local address roughly 15 years ago.

According to Johnson, an airport security officer thought something was out of the ordinary, and followed them before calling Johnson to tell him where his daughter was.

Johnson told the Rick Howe Show that he drove to the house and banged on the door, demanding his daughter back.

“I told them that I would drive through their plate glass window if they didn’t give her back in 55 seconds,” he said. “I waited and about 30 seconds later, the door opened up and there was my daughter.”

He believes that the plan was to transport his daughter out of Nova Scotia as there were two blacked out SUVs with Ontario plates in the driveway when he arrived on the scene.
