HALIFAX- Five HRM youths are facing a slew of charges following incidents in Dartmouth last week.

Police said on June 19 officers responded to a report that a male teenager had smashed a car window with a hammer on Mill Lane, stole a purse from the vehicle and then fled on foot.

Officers located a 16-year-old boy on Alderney Drive, as well as a hammer, where he was arrested.

Police said while attempting to arrest the youth, he attempted to pull away and spat at an officer.

The youth was held in custody and appeared in Halifax Provincial Youth Court on June 20 facing a number of charges including resisting arrest and possession of a weapon.

Police said throughout the investigation there was reason to believe the teenager had been involved in a stabbing reported to police on June 18 in the area of Thistle Street and Wyse Road.

The victim reported a group of youths surrounded him and asked for cigarettes, then a male stabbed him.

Following a search warrant for a residence on Prince Alberta Road, four more youth were arrested.

A 17 and 14-year-old male from Dartmouth and a 15 and 17-year old female from Halifax were arrested, and all four are facing a charge of robbery.

The two males have also been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The 16-year-old man arrested on June 19 is also facing charges related to the stabbing and is scheduled to appear back in court at a later date.
