LOWER SACKVILLE, N.S. – Halifax District RCMP have charged a 17-year-old male who allegedly went on a vandalism spree in a residential area of Lower Sackville.

Police say just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, multiple calls came in about a male trying to break into parked cars, breaking windshields, and in one case, setting fire to the interior of a vehicle.

With the help of RCMP and Halifax Regional Police dog services, police were led to Sackville High school, where it appeared someone had entered the building. A security alarm sent the suspect running from the school and police were able to arrest him without incident.

The 17-year-old male has been charged with two counts of failing to comply with undertaking, and one count each of arson, mischief, attempted theft of a vehicle, break and enter, and theft.

He was remanded in to custody and will appear in Youth Court on Feb. 1.
