Regional police lay drug charges following traffic stop in Dartmouth

DARTMOUTH, N.S. – Halifax Regional Police have laid drug charges on a man and a woman following a traffic stop in Dartmouth last week.

On January 13 at 9:08 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the Highfield Park Drive and Victoria Road area where the driver and two passengers were taken into custody.

As a result of the traffic stop, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 2000 block of Isleville Street in Halifax and located a quantity of crack cocaine, a replica handgun as well as drug paraphernalia.

Twenty-eight -year-old Maurice Sinclaire Parris and a 25-year-old woman, both from Halifax, each face possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine charges.

Parris appeared in Dartmouth Provincial Court on January 16 and was also charged with two counts each of breach of a recognizance and breach of probation.

The woman will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on March 14 and the other man was released without charges.
