Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up nine cents, or 1.51 per cent, to $6.05 on seven million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 14 cents, or 3.60 per cent, to $4.03 on 6.5 million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 14 cents, or 0.82 per cent, to $16.85 on 6.1 million shares.

Iamgold Corp. (TSX:IMG). Miner. Up 20 cents, or 4.07 per cent, to $5.12 on 5.4 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up six cents, or 1.87 per cent, to $3.27 on five million shares.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Financial Services. Down 20 cents, or 0.85 per cent, to $23.24 on 4.5 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

National Bank of Canada (TSX:NA). Bank. Up 69 cents, or 1.36 per cent, to $51.52 on 1.5 million shares. National Bank says its fourth-quarter net income was down 11.5 per cent from the same time last year, falling to $307 million from $347 million, as it recorded a number of higher expense items. Canada’s sixth-largest bank says the quarter included $96 million of restructuring charges, up from $62 million recorded a year earlier.
