Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

ECN Capital Corp. (TSX:ECN). Financial Services. Down 71 cents, or 17.75 per cent, to $3.29 on 22.4-million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up 13 cents, or 3.85 per cent, to $3.51 on 13.5-million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Up 75 cents, or 15.40 per cent, to $5.62 on 12.6-million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 52 cents, or 4.43 per cent, to $12.27 on 8.8-million shares.

Crescent Point Energy (TSX:CPG). Oil and gas. Up 97 cents, or 5.93 per cent, to $17.34 on 5.7-million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 14 cents, or 2.45 per cent, to $5.85 on 5.7-million shares.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Up 48 cents, or 4.61 per cent, to $10.89 on 3.7-million shares. BlackBerry will stop making its signature smartphones, the company said Wednesday after facing repeated calls to leave the hardware business that was once the basis of its reputation as a global technology leader. All hardware development and manufacturing will be outsourced to partners, which will license the BlackBerry’s technology and brand, while the Canadian company concentrates on growing the software side of its business.
