TORONTO – +Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,229.96 up 27.92 points):

Argonaut Gold Inc. (TSX:AR). Gold miner. Down 83 cents, or 7.92 per cent, at $9.65 on 5,912,582 shares. The Toronto-based company plans to acquire Prodigy Gold Inc. (TSXV:PDG) for shares and cash in a friendly deal valued at $341 million.

Lydian International Ltd. (TSX:LYD). Mineral explorer and developer. Up two cents, or 0.89 per cent, at $2.26 on 3,731,922 shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Unchanged at $9.99 on 2,923,733 shares.

Talison Lithium Ltd. (TSX:TLH). Miner. Down three cents, or 0.46 per cent, at $6.46 on 2,773,547 shares. The metals and mining sector dipped 0.07 per cent to 905.36 points.

Baja Mining Corp. (TSX:BAJ). Miner. Up 1.5 cents, or 14.29 per cent, at 12 cents on 2,721,850 shares. The Vancouver-based miner said that the Korean consortium made its second contribution this month to the Boleo project in Mexico, worth US$13.3 million. That is in addition to the US$6.7 million the consortium provided earlier in October.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up 21 cents, or 1.15 per cent, at $18.55 on 2,549,447 shares.

TSX Venture Exchange (1,282.73 down 10.08 points):

Prodigy Gold Inc. (TSXV:PDG). Gold. Up 29 cents, or 42.03 per cent, at 98 cents on 43,795,497 shares. Prodigy shareholders will be voting in December on Argonaut Gold’s takeover plan of the Vancouver-based miner, whose main asset is its Magino gold project in Ontario.

Feronia Inc. (TSXV:FRN). Farming and oil palm plantation. Up half a cent, or 6.67 per cent, at eight cents on 3,649,293 shares.

Companies reporting major news:

CAE Inc. (TSX:CAE). Flight simulator and training company. Up 30 cents, or 2.92 per cent, at $10.58 on 597,285 shares. The Montreal-based company won a number of military contracts valued at about $200 million, including two awarded by the United States.

Petaquilla Minerals Ltd. (TSX:PTQ). Miner. Down a penny, or 1.59 per cent, at 62 cents on 523,750 shares. The Vancouver-based company rejected an unsolicited, $112-million takeover bid for the company by Inmet Mining Corp. (TSX:IMN).

Telus (TSX:T). Wireless communication. Up 14 cents, or 0.22 per cent, at $62.85 on 303,189 shares. The country’s second largest telecommunications company says that the Supreme Court of British Columbia has given it permission to go ahead with a vote on its share exchange proposal, despite an appeals court ruling that sided with a dissident shareholder. Telus also announced earlier in the day that it is no longer charging a $35 activation fee for new wireless customers, or a $25 equipment exchange fee for renewing customers who purchase a new device.
