The province has announced nearly two million dollars in funding for more than 300 new jobs in halifax.
Blue Ocean Contact Centres is adding 350 new positions to its payroll over the next five years.
Ninety per cent of the jobs will be in customer support and the rest in management.
The average annual salary for the new positions is about $30,000, slightly higher than the company’s average annual salary of $28,000.
Nova Scotia Business Inc. is providing the $1.95 million dollar payroll rebate. President Stephen Lund says although several call centres have closed in Nova Scotia recently, others have opened and overall the sector is actually pretty healthy.
