HALIFAX – A man faces impaired driving and drug charges after a hit-and-run incident that occurred early Tuesday morning in Halifax.
Investigators with Halifax Regional Police say shortly after midnight, they responded to a hit and run collision on Lacewood Drive.
After searching the area, officers later stopped a vehicle matching the description and arrested the driver without incident.
A 42 year old Hammonds Plains man faces charges of failing to remain at the scene of an accident, impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, possession of cocaine and possession of the drug, ecstacy.
No names were released by police, noting the man charged was released on a notice to appear in Halifax Provincial Court, September 6.
Police meanwhile say they continue to be encouraged by the number of citizens playing a role in community safety by calling 9-1-1 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
