Crews battling three wildfires in wooded areas throughout Nova Scotia

By The Canadian Press

HALIFAX – The Nova Scotia government says crews are battling several wildfires in wooded areas throughout the province.

The province says the largest is burning in Fenwick, just south of Amherst, and is approximately 12 hectares in size.

Spokesman Brian Taylor says that fire has been contained and more than 50 crew members are working to extinguish the blaze.

Taylor says another fire, one hectare in size, is burning in Lunenburg County, but it has been contained and there are no concerns.

As well, crews are setting up sprinklers to deal with a blaze burning over half a hectare in Clarksville, roughly 30 kilometres northeast of Windsor.

Dry conditions have prompted the province to ban all burning and campfires on mainland Nova Scotia.
