Fans of the Tragically Hip living in Halifax are likely working out plans for a trip to see the band.
Earlier this week they revealed singer Gord Downie has terminal brain cancer, with The Hip still vowing to do a summer tour.
Of the 11 dates announced, Ottawa is the closest stop to Halifax.
Cole McLean of the music website Atlantic Canada Rocks told The Rick Howe Show it may be disappointing, but fans can’t be angry.
“I think it’s an amazing gift that Gord Downie and The Hip have given us in terms of doing another tour,” he said. “It’s something that they definitely didn’t have to do for us, but I’m just thrilled they are and I think it’s amazing.”
The tour kicks off July 22 in Victoria and wraps up in the band’s home town of Kingston on August 20.
McLean expects demand will be high, but there’s a way to help increase your odds of getting into a show.
“Something really unique with The Hip is on their website they have a mailing list, and you can actually get pre-sale tickets,” he explained. “Those will go on sale May 30th at 10 a.m.”
He said tickets are limited to four per household.
